SNARKGIRLS HISTORY

To understand who the SnarkGirls are, you must know where they come from. Once upon a time -- last summer in fact -- there was a TV show whose purpose was to find a new lead singer for a once popular band from the 80's due to the fact that their original singer had died under mysterious, questionable circumstances. The people who tuned into this show, for the most part, did so to witness the inevitable train wreck. However, many of them soon found themselves spending an unnatural amount of time focused on the show and the contestants involved. The show aired 3 days a week, but that wasn't enough...looking to the internet for some sort of fix for their new addiction, the first stop for new information was the site dedicated to this show, the Rockstar:INXS MSN website. Many people had their first experience with a message board on this site. While for some people, inane discussions with morons and 12-year-olds on the MSN message board was an appropriate fit, others sought out more intelligent conversation.

The first of the SnarkGirls came together somewhere in a 700+ page thread on the website televisionwithoutpity.com. While it was somewhat intimidating with its' rules, there was none of the bullshit like the MSN board happening and it was also the place to get show spoilers from those who had attended live tapings. Unfortunately, some overly sensitive, emo moron with no sense of humor felt the need to complain to TPTB and the thread was locked before the show's season was even over.

Many people were lost that day. Some were never heard from again.

People began resurfacing at one of two new boards: Rockband.com and Snarkgasm. Those who were being proactive joined both. TPTB at both boards were very welcoming to their sudden influx of TWoP refugees. Most of us began doing the majority of our posting on Snarkgasm. We began with the standard thread dedicated to the show. Apparently, somehow in the move, the ratio of Marty fans to the rest of the morons became much greater. So much so that it was suggested that we have our own thread to squee in, as we were no longer being objective.

It was this great day that the Kool-Aid Commune was created. Eventually the majority of the fans of another cast member migrated back to the Rockband.com board and the Commune expanded to include Hammerhead Heaven. The Lovehammers had 15 years worth of history for us to discover and analyze, plus an exciting new future ahead of them for us to enjoy. The first SnarkCon occurred 11/23/2005 at the Lovehammer's Welcome Home show at the Metro in Chicago. There were 20+ of us in attendance. Over the months to follow, many more of us were given the opportunity to meet and to see OurBand:Lovehammers live.

What was expected to be intense withdrawal and eventual return to our old way of life has never happened and along the way we have become more than just people posting on a message board, we became a family. There came a time, around the end of February 2006 when we decided, as a group, that it was time we moved on to our own home, and the planning and building and creating of SnarkGirls.com began. It took a while, but here it is...Welcome to the family!
